MIND. Feeling Lucky? A Lesson In Mindset.

Have you ever known someone who was super lucky? That person who always won at a raffle, got picked to move to an airline upgrade, or met the right people at the right time for advantageous chance opportunities ?

Turns out, it could possibly just be their mindset. I read an article last month on the science of luck (The Luck Factor), and I found it interesting enough to share. Author and psychologist Richard Wiseman writes,

Lucky people generate their own good fortune via four basic principles. They are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities, make lucky decisions by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling prophesies via positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good
— Richard Wiseman (The Luck Factor)

A couple of takeaways I took from the read were to (1) change up routine to increase chance opportunities and (2) adopt the mentality, “things could have been worse.”

Even though luck may seem chance, do a self-experiment and consider seeing if you can change your own odds through a few simple mindset shifts.
